The Inspiring Journey of Dr. Ford
Dr. Ford embarked on her nursing career following honorable discharges from the U.S. Navy, and U.S. Naval Reserve. With over three decades of experience as a registered nurse, she has amassed extensive healthcare expertise spanning combat support in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps Reserve, intensive care units, coronary care units, pediatric surgical heart units, pediatric intensive care unit, stroke research, and nursing education. Dr. Ford has demonstrated leadership in various capacities, serving as director of a home health agency, program director for a vocational nursing program, and department chair for a prominent associate degree nursing program in Houston, Texas until her retirement in May 2024.

Shiela’s commitment to mentoring and dedication to the nursing profession extends to her aspirations for her daughter, Cayla, to continue this legacy, preparing future generations of nursing and allied health professionals with the same care and dedication. Her son Caleb, a self-employed truck driver, continues to challenge and inspire her to empower others through community education and mentoring.
